Going to watch IPL in Wankhede? Better plan your route & parking


S.K.Wankhede stadium is located in South Mumbai. Wankhede is nearby the well known 'Churchgate' Station. Not far from the station is the 'Chatrapati Shivaji Station' too. Reaching from the suburbs during peak hours is a hassle through the overcrowded Mumbai Locals as well as the insane traffic. Access to the Stadium
  • Gate No. 2, 1, 7(Grand stand, Garware stand, MCA stand) are on the southern side of stadium, Entry form D road next to Garware chowk.
  • Gate No. 3(Vijay marchant stand) is Marine Drive housing road, western side of the stadium.
  • Gate No. 4( Sachin Tendulkar stand ) entry from opp. to university ground
  • Gate No. 5 (Sunil Gavaskar L1)entry is from east - west railway bridge
  • Gate No. 6 (Sunil Gavaskar L2 & Divecha stand)entry is form east – west bridge

Reaching via Cab 

Cab service is easily available in Mumbai (Obviously at some higher cost). They are available at any bus stop or nearby any society or college. Here’s the number to contact them directly to book a cab:

Checking traffic status prior to hiring a cab is advisable to make sure you don’t miss the IPL kick-off due to traffic.

Parking near Stadium

  • Driving to the stadium from the Eastern Suburbs or from the direction of South Mumbai, you should drive straight to parking lots available at Maharshi Karve Road, M. G. Road, H. T. Parekh Marg, Mantralay Lane, Jeevan Vima Marg, Vidhan Bhavan periphery, CR-2 Inox, Jamnalal Bajaj Marg, Vinay K. Shah Marg, N.C.P.A Lane, D. Tata Road NCPA, Cooperage Ground. After you park your vehicle at any of these places, you can then walk towards the stadium. 
  • Driving to the stadium from the Western Suburbs, you should drive straight to parking lots vailable at Nana Nani Park Chowpatty, Wilson College Gymkhana, Hindu Gymkhana, Islam Gymkhana, Parsi Gymkhana, and Service Road on Eastern side of N. S. Road. After you park your vehicle at any of these places, you can then walk towards the stadium. 
  • No parking will be allowed on both the sides of N.S. Road, N. Purandare Marg, Maharshi Karve Marg (Queens Road), Kalbadevi Marg, J.S.S.Road, Shamaldas Gandhi Marg. 
During IPL matches there is no entry for all types of vehicles (except vehicles holding Passes) on: 
  • 'C' Road from the junction of N. S. Road to the junction of 'E' Road.
  • 'E' Road shall be one way from its junction of ‘D’ Road to its junction of ‘C’ Road.
  • 'C' Road shall be one way from its junction of N.S. Road to its junction of E & C Road.
  • 'D' Road shall be one way from its junction of ‘D’ Road to its junction of ‘C’ Road.
  • 'D' Road from the junction of N. S. Road to the junction of 'E' Road. 
  • 'E' Road from the junction of 'B' Road to the junction of 'D' Road. 
  • N.S.Road South bound from Princess Street Bridge to Air India Junction.
  • M.K.Road both side from Churchgate Junction to Anandilal Poddar Marg Junction.

Reaching from Chhattrapati Shivaji International Airport or Santa Cruz Domestic Airport 
In case you are coming from some other city to watch the IPL, there are airport shuttle cabs as well as buses to transfer you to the stadium. If planning to travel via Mumbai Locals:

  • Vile Parle Station: 15-20 mins walk from Domestic Airport. 
  • Santacruz Station: 10-15 mins via Rick/Cab. 



From these western suburb Stations it will take you around 35-40 mins to reach Churchgate station.

Reaching from Eastern Suburbs (If you are coming from Pune) 

You will have to reach Dadar. Pune bound buses and cabs drop their passengers at Dadar. Reaching to Churchgate from Dadar via Mumbai Local is a 15-20 mins journey. If you are planning to book a cab, then it’s a 30 mins ride without traffic.

Reaching Ferozshah to watch IPL... No more Hassle

Despite Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium’s better connectivity with local transport and Metro, it is very crucial to plan your journey in advance. Remember to check live traffic status with Traffline for any last minute updates before you travel towards the IPL kick-off this season.

Spectators can enter the stadium through Gate No. 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 which is located on the southern side of the stadium and entry to these enclosures are from Bahadurshah Zafar Marg.
You can also use Gate No. 8,9,10,11,12,13,14, and 15 located on the eastern side of the stadium and entry is from J.L.N. Marg next to Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal.
For the convenience of the spectators Gate Nos. 16, 17 and 18 located on the western side of the stadium are also open and entry permitted from BSZ Marg, next to Petrol Pump.

Reaching by Metro 

Nearest Metro Stations from Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium - 'Pragati Maidan' & 'New Delhi' Metro Stations:

  • Distance from 'New Delhi' Metro Station – 3 km 
  • Distance from 'Pragati Maidan' Metro via Mathura Rd – 4 km 

After Metro you may probably have to look out for taxis / rickshaws or a 5 mins walk to Kamla Market Bus stop towards Ajmeri Gate.


You can also use the services of DTC and DDCA from Pragati Maidan & New Delhi Metro Stations.

Reaching by Bus

Board a DTC bus and Low floor AC bus plying in this route. You can reach Ambedkar Stadium or LNJP Hospital which are near Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. If coming in a DTC bus you can get down at Shaheedi Park or Delhi Gate Bus stop. Bus numbers from Delhi Metro Station:

  •  Bus no. 949/39A/307 - Kamla Market to Ambedkar Stadium Terminal
  •  Bus no. 838 – Kamla Market to Asaf Ali Road Delhi Gate 
DTC Buses generally take 20-25 min depending on the traffic status. From Ambedkar Stadium Terminal, it is another 5-7 mins walk towards Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

Hiring a Cab / Rickshaw

You can also hire Radio Taxis, Cabs and Autos to reach Feroz Shah Kotla Cricket Stadium. They will get you there within 10 mins (If there’s no traffic). It’s better to book a cab prior to your arrival; otherwise last minute glitch might leave you behind your Schedule. Few cabs booking info:

Otherwise you can always find a Rickshaw near kamala market towards Ajmeri Gate.

  • Take Ring Road or Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and then take a turn from Delhi Gate and turn left on Feroz shah Kotla Access Road from Bahadurshah Zafar Marg. 
  • Those having parking label can park their vehicle at Feroz shah Kotla Stadium and entry is through Bahadurshah Zafar Marg. 
  • Unlabeled Parking - Do not have parking labels. Park vehicle at Mata Sundri Road or Shanti Van

Accurately plan your route to watch IPL match in Chinnaswamy Stadium

M.Chinnaswamy Stadium is well connected to the Roadways and Railways in Bangalore. Reaching on time is a hassle during traffic – Better check the traffic status on www.traffline.com before heading towards the stadium.


Entry to Stadium 
Entry to spectators from Gate No. 1 to Gate No. 8 from Queen’s Road will be allowed. Those who want to enter from Cubbon Road may do so through the road behind HAL corporate office (Gate No. 18 to Gate No. 20), while those entering through Gate No. 16 and 17 may come from Anil Kumble Circle.

Due to Metro works near BRV grounds and near CTO Junction, people are requested to use BMTC Buses to reach stadium, BIG 10 Buses are arranged for all parts of the city to help the spectators after the match to ensure smooth traffic around the stadium.

Reaching from the Bangalore City Junction:

Chinnaswamy Stadium is 5 kms from the Bangalore City Junction. Bus takes 30 minutes along with 15-20 minutes of walking distance from the nearby Bus stop. Below are the bus numbers from the nearby Majestic Bus Stop from Bangalore City Junction:
· Bus No. 360 J – Majestic to Kanteerava Stadium (After that 15 mins walk)
· Bus No. 365 D – Majestic – K R Circle (After that 20 mins walk)
· Bus No. BIAS9 – Majestic to Basavabavan (After that 15 mins walk)

Talking a rickshaw would be a better option in order to avoid the bus delay. Otherwise you can expect 50 mins- 60 mins of travel time from the Bangalore City Junction.

No parking on the following roads between 11 am to 10 pm:

  • Both sides on Queen’s Road - between CTO Circle and Queen’s Circle 
  • Both sides on Mahatma Gandhi Road between Anil Kumble Circle and Queen’s Circle 
  • Link Road between Mahatma Gandhi Road and Cubbon Road 
  • Raj Bhavan Road, T Chowdiah Road and Race Course Road 
  • Both adjoining roads of the stadium; both sides on Central Street 
  • Cubbon Road - between BRV Circle and Dickenson Road Junction 
  • Between Kamaraj Road Junction and Dickenson Road junction
  • Madras Bank Road - between SBI Circle and Ashivardam Circle 
  • Museum Road - between Mahatma Gandhi Road and Madras Bank Road and up to Residency Road 
  • Kasturba Road - between Queen’s Circle and Hudson Circle; Grand Road between Siddalingaiah Circle and Raja Ram Mohan Roy Circle 
  • Inside Cubbon Park on King's Road, in front of Press Club, Bal Bhavan and Fountain Road 
  • From Queen’s Circle till Grant Junction on Lavelle Road 
  • From Siddalingaiah Circle to Bishop Cotton Girls’ school on Vittal Mallya Road. 

Parking is allowed on the following Roads: 

St Joseph Indian High School Ground and Kanteerava Stadium and first floor on Shivajinagar bus stand. Parking for vehicles of police and other staff deployed for the security duty has been provided in front of KGID building. 

Entry/Exit of Stadium :
  • Use Queens Road to reach Gate No.1 and 8
  • Pedestrians/Audience coming from Anil Kumble Circle can enter the stadium through Gate No. 17 and 20( Via Link Road)

Going to watch IPL matches this summer? Watch out! Guidelines to reach to stadium on time
